OASIS (3rd Generation Project)

Welcome to (text-colour:yellow)[OASIS]. This is a remixed fanfiction that took inspiration from and provides a continuation of Andrew Plotkins's interactive story (text-colour:purple)[SHADE]. [[Start]]

You awaken. It...is...(text-color:red)[SCORCHING HOT]! What's that around you? What are you lying in? Oh...it's the (text-color:yellow)[sand] again. You only see (text-colour:yellow)[sand] for miles. Nothing else but (text-color:yellow)[sand] in this massive (text-color:orange)[desert]. It's gotta be a hallucination considering what (text-color:purple)[you've just been through]. You shudder at the thought. [[Make a move to stand.]]

You stand up. It's honestly a miracle that you can still stand. Nothing but (text-color:yellow)[sand] in all directions. But wait...what's (text-color:green)[that] in the distance? Is there something there? [[Look harder.]] [[Go forward.]]

You can look at it only for so long, but that (text-color:red)[sun] is gonna burn your retinas if you keep at it like this. [[Go forward.]]

You slowly walk through the (text-color:yellow)[sand]. The burning sensation that you feel in you feet as you walk through it hurts immensely, but you find the feeling of them being buried in (text-color:yellow)[sand] oddly nice...almost like being on a massive beach...but without the (text-color:cyan)[water]. [[Keep going]]

That (text-color:green)[whatever it is] in the distance begins growing. You're closing in on (text-color:green)[it]. Oddly, you're body starts...(text-color:blue)[cooling]. It's almost like you felt like your body can't be (text-color:red)[hot] anymore so it just resorted to being (text-color:blue)[cold]. [[Don't stop]] [[Feel forhead]]

You keep going... And going... And going... It keeps on, and it seems (text-color:green)[whatever it is] in the distance is getting further and further. And-wait...no, it's getting closer! [[Run for it!]]

You stop and put a hand to your forehead. It's still sweating like crazy. You feel (text-color:blue)[cooler], sure, but it doesn't feel like it should be natural. That (text-color:green)[thing] in the distance taunts you a bit. As you have gotten closer, it appears to be waving at you. You wave back just to be silly...or it could be the delirium settling in from the amazingly agonizing (text-color:red)[heatstroke] you're suffering from at the moment. [[Don't stop]]

It's getting closer. You can start seeing it more clearly! It's- It's a- (text-color: yellow)[AN OASIS!] A nice clean pool of (text-color:blue)[cooling water] and a tall (text-color:green)[tree] fit perfect for shade from that burning (text-color: red)[sun]. It is nothing short of paradise. [[Dive in]]

Without another thought, you dive into the nice refreshing (text-color:yellow)[sand]. Wait...(text-color:yellow)[SAND]?! You've been tricked by the most devious thing of all...your imagination running wild due to all of the (text-color:red)[heat]. Your faceplant into the (text-color:yellow)[sand] immobilizes you entirely. Your body can't move anymore. You black out... [[Listen]]

Pure darkness...all around. You feel nothing. (text-color:white)[Monitor] beeps reach your ears. Wind rushing does the same. Some muffled voices are also heard. [[Open eyes]]

You seem to be relaxing in a hospital recovering from your (text-color:orange)[desert] misadventure. Your room is nice and (text-color:blue)[cool]. In your relaxed state, you make a vow. No more traveling. It may be fun, but NEVER again...(at least, for a little while.) You notice a glass of (text-color:blue)[water] on the table next to you. You reach over to grab it, but hesitate... [[What's stopping you?]]

You think you're just being a bit paranoid. You grab it and take a sip of it... It was...awful. You look at the glass's contents. Only to see more (text-color:yellow)[sand]... ...... ......... .............. Truly, there is no escaping it... [[Fade to black]]
